The Gunners have been dealt a major blow in the opening week of the season. There are major fears that Arsenal summer signing Jurrien Timber could be out for months after limping out of their opening day Premier League win over Nottigham Forest.

The Dutchman, who has become one of the first names on the teamsheet in the absence of Oleksandr Zinchenko, went down in a challenge with Brennan Johnson in the first half but came out after the interval seemingly okay.

However, minutes into the second half he went down again, this time under no pressure, and needed to be replaced by Takehiro Tomiyasu.

After the game, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta explained that “the officials, the doctors, they looked at him and they were happy to continue, him as well, but straight away in the second half the first action he made a movement and it was a bit funny so we took him straight out and now we have to assess him to see what he has.”
