A dramatic scene unfolded at a Kaduna Customary Court on Tuesday as a 37-year-old woman, Linda Stephen, petitioned for the dissolution of her six-year-old marriage. The grounds for her plea? Her husband’s insatiable sexual appetite.
According to Linda, her husband, Felix Stephen, would often demand sex from midnight to the early hours of the morning, disregarding her cries and pleas to stop. She alleged that whenever she refused his advances, Felix would resort to physical violence, even in front of their two children.
Linda told the court that she could no longer cope with the emotional and physical strain of the marriage. “I urge the court to dissolve this marriage because I can’t stand his excessive sexual urge. He likes sex too much, and I can’t bear it,” she said.
Felix, however, denied any wrongdoing and claimed to be deeply in love with his wife. He pleaded with the court to intervene and help him reconcile with Linda, promising to control his sexual urges.
The court’s decision is pending, leaving the fate of the troubled marriage hanging in the balance.
