Manchester United is confident that a deal will be finalized with the Qataris for the club’s sale by November.
There are allegations that the unpopular Glazer family has been delaying the negotiations.
But those discussions are understood to have taken a big leap forward in recent weeks, with a £6billion sale now close.
Qatari Sheikh Jassim’s team is currently conducting thorough research before making a formal offer, positioning them ahead of Sir Jim Ratcliffe from Britain in the competition.
Concerns from fans revolved around Ratcliffe’s Ineos group potentially allowing the Glazers to retain a minority stake. The Glazers had initially announced the club’s availability for sale last November. Their ownership, dating back to 2005, has led to a significant debt of over £1 billion.
Manager Erik ten Hag has been engaged in discussions with the Glazers to discuss the club’s future. Ahead of Saturday’s friendly against Lens, three notable signings – Rasmus Hojlund (£72m), Mason Mount (£60m), and Andre Onana (£47m) – will be introduced to the Old Trafford crowd.
Additionally, Ten Hag might make one more substantial signing before United’s Premier League debut against Wolves on August 14.
Morocco anchorman Sofyan Amrabat is a prime candidate.
It’s thought the Red Devils have been in advanced talks with Fiorentina over the 26-year-old.
