Sven Botman joins Newcastle United for a fee of £35m

The Defender, Botman has been added to the list of new signings for Newcastle United of the 2022 summer transfer window for the 2022/23 new season

Newcastle United have completed and announced the signing of 22 year old Dutch defender for a fee of £35m($42.62) from Lille.

The Dutch’s defender completed his medicals at Newcastle United on Tuesday before he signed a 5 year old contract with NUFC.

Formal details are set to be concluded this week, at which point Botman will become the team’s fourth signing of the summer after Alex Murphy, Matt Targett and Nick Pope.

Sven Botman (born 12 January 2000) is a Dutch professional footballer who plays as a defender for Premier League club Newcastle United. He has represented the Netherlands at youth levels under-15 through under-21.

His Club Career

Ajax

On 23 June 2018, Botman made his debut for the senior team of Ajax in a friendly against VVSB. He made his Eerste Divisie debut for Jong Ajax on 17 August 2018 in a game against Roda JC Kerkrade.

Lille

On 31 July 2020, Botman signed a five-year contract with Ligue 1 club Lille.The deal was worth approximately €8 to €9 million.

Newcastle United

On 28 June 2022, he signed for Premier League club Newcastle United for an undisclosed fee reported to be within the area of €37 million.
